kris9519
Hello everyone, I was wondering what you guys think my chances of getting into Dental School in Ontario are. I will be applying next year and I will write the DATs this upcoming November. I am from Ontario so I know my chances in other provinces are very slim and Ontario is pretty much my only hope. So for Western, my top two years GPA is 91. And for U oft T my GPA (overall minus worst year) is 3.95. My overall GPA in university is 3.92. I also only have an undergraduate degree and my ECs are honestly not that great. I have one year hospital volunteering, part time job for two years, and research (volunteering not paid job) for 1 year. That is literally it. I will try to shadow a dentist this summer though. Looking forward to your responses!
Dentistry101
Do well on your DAT (over 20 in every section) and you'd have a good shot at UofT. For Western, you'd need to bluff your ECs on the ABS, talk more about what you got out of the experiences and the impact that had on your character development. You're competitive. DAT is the biggest hurdle for you, good luck!!
kris9519
Thanks for replying! For Western, how is my average? I know their most recent admission stats said the average was 89. Since I don't have a lot of ECs, is 91 high enough to make up for it?
Dentistry101
You have more than a year to expand on your ECs by doing something meaningful. You'll be in the middle pack if you work on your ECs, then you'll have a good chance at Western.
121227123
You have a good chance at Uoft, given that your DAT scores are good (aim for >21) and your interview goes well. They don't look at a CV or extracurriculars so they wouldn't know what you have and haven't done.
kris9519
What ECs would you guys recommend for Western? I will for sure be shadowing a dentist during the summer but is there anything else that they like?

If you can at least get 20/20 on AA and PAT then you're golden. My stats are lower than yours and I got in this year.
