LittleDaisy
Hey guys! As family medicine is a short residency, and I am almost half-way there. I wonder where one usually goes to look for Family Medicine full-time job positions? I am geographically limited to Toronto and its surrounding (1-2 hours by drive) due to familial reasons. I am interested in doing some hospitalist in-patient work, I am aware that all major hospitals in GTA are taken over by GIM. I am willing to go away from downtown core area, and commute 2-3 hours daily if needed. Do people usually go to HealthForceOntario? Or words by mouth? Do PGY2 usually set up electives in where they want to work later? (i.e: set up electives in community hospitals) We don't learn much about finding jobs in 2 year residency, which is helpful for those who are more geographically limited due to familial & personal reasons. Thanks for all your help! Much appreciated
futurefamilydoc
Not nearly as far along as you, but many of the younger staff I know got jobs through connections they made doing locums after finishing PGY-2. I do also see lots of jobs listed in the OMA magazine that gets sent out every so often, that can be another place to start
Mithril
Don't know about Toronto but in BC the main websites are locums.ca, Divisions of Family Practice website, and HealthMatch BC. Perhaps Ontario has similar resources. Perhaps ask the CFPC or OMA for help.

A few that have GP hospitalists still (MacKenzie health, William Osler, Oakville)
LittleDaisy
bump, any input from any Ontario PGY2s or staff physicians in FM would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much guys!
Lactic Folly
Not an FM, but if you have the opportunity to rotate through where you would like to work, that may be helpful. I've often seen people stay in communities where they trained.
