zizoupanda
How hard is to match to Cards or GI as an IM resident? Is it as competitive as matching to plastics or derm from medical school? I was recently told by some IM residents that if any resident was interested in these they should be gunning from July 1st of PGY1. Just curious if this was hyperbole or true. ZBL
No. False. Look at the CaRMS stats. Matching to GI or Cards is about as competitive as matching to neurology or peds, certainly not derm or plastics level. That said, you probably still should gun from PGY1 since you have to apply after just two years.
