Eudaimonia Posted March 15, 2018 Report Share Posted March 15, 2018 Hey, you have a good GPA, and while your CARS isn't what you'd like it to be for Mac/Western, your overall MCAT may not hinder you from other schools that assess it as a lower cutoff or just competitively. Remember that MCAT requirements can be pretty forgiving but ECs are quite important at most schools. True, building ECs that show commitment takes time, so your friend's advice is good if you think you can bring that CARS score up to a 129. That clear formula at Western seems tempting - you only have to reach the bar! But improving on your CARS skills also takes time and results aren't guaranteed just because you study; unlike ECs which will concretely build up on your CV over time. Personally, I accepted that I wasn't going to bother trying to get in Mac/Western and instead enjoyed my activities which have helped me build more important experiences for the long run.
