quibble
Is there any OOP students at McGill who applied to OSAP that can assist me? I am confused as to how the grants and loans work and how much one can expect for McGill OOP tuition. How does OSAP coverage change if you go out of province? I heard that OSAP does not coverage that much for out of province universities so should I be inclined to stay at U of T to have more financial aid? tx
quibble
Never mind. I answered my own question. For those interested, click the calculator here: https://osap.gov.on.ca/AidEstimator1819Web/enterapp/enter.xhtml. You need to click other universities and search up McGill. They have the medical program pre-populated with the tuition fees etc so it is pretty straight forward. I think I did a mock and it showed like 50% grant and 50% loans which total $20K [which is well above the OOP tuition fees]. Quite happy about that. la marzocco
The new OSAP is much more generous than its predecessors. Weird enough, you get more OSAP assistance going out of province than attending U of T, all else being equal.

It puts OOP students at a level playing field to the IP students (who pay low tuition but have almost no assistance).@lmck if you want to talk about OSAP and OOP stuff, hit me up! Also an OOP student for the class of 2022. Excited to meet you - you sound like an incredible person.

Not as much as OSAP gives you but in the end like you said we're pretty equal, considering tuition

Yes for true IP but I'm a OOP IP that will need to pay rent so it comes down quite equal: we both pocket about 10k, and your extra loan money is for your higher tuition
la marzocco
If I remember correctly, the OOP premium is about $33K over four years. Regardless, OOP tuition is still one half of that of Ontario schools, thankful nonetheless
