meganMD
Hi all, I recently completed my second year of university but it didn't exactly go as planned. In first semester I was going through some pretty heavy mental health stuff (suicidal ideations and hallucinations) and ended up only being able to finish two of five courses. In second semester I was just starting to pull my sh*t together when I suffered a severe concussion and once again was only able to finish two of five courses. Even though I still managed to keep my GPA up, this year has been really rough, and I was starting to come to terms with having to re-do most of my second year and being behind all my friends when I was told by someone that I am no longer eligible to apply to medical school as I am not taking a full course load. I was planning to do two more years of full-time study and one final year with my honors and reduced course load but now I am panicking because I may have screwed up my entire future. I looked over the requirements for every school and only saw that 3 full-time years are required for some, but I'm not sure if I am missing anything. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time.
jijijijijijijiijii
Whoever told you you can’t apply without a full course load is absolutely wrong and you definitely can apply. You won’t be eligible for GPA weighting, ie schools dropping your worst courses from the GPA calculation, but that’s it. Don’t stress about this part and take as long as you need for undergrad; good luck!
