3 Year Program Vs 4 Year Program

Hello, I was wondering if a current UoC student could give us some insight into its 3 year program. Is the course load more intense? Or is it just the same as a 4 year program except summer breaks are 2 weeks instead of 2.5 months - and the extra year is saved merely by shortening the summer/winter breaks?
