drwanabe
Hi, can anybody recommend any online courses for mcat preparation, that covers material (teaches) from sciences (physics, orgo chem, etc) and not just gives practice tests. I don't have a great physics or chem background. And living in a rural area, i can't really attend things like the kaplan course. Or any great books would be helpful, thanks. A-Stark
You're better off picking up one of the big fat study guides (Kaplan, Princeton Review, Gold Standard, etc.) and studying from that. The Kaplan one, at least, comes with a CD with study materials and practice tests, with additional tests, quizzes, and tutorials online.
winnipegguy
I you are good at studying on your own, the huge kaplan book has everything that could be on the MCAT. It's all I used.
dan0105
Here's the thing, all the online courses I've seen are still at least 1000 bucks. A better plan is as follows: - Print off the complete topic list for the physical and biological sciences (http://www.aamc.org/students/mcat/preparing/bstopics.pdf) (http://www.aamc.org/students/mcat/preparing/pstopics.pdf) - Go to a used bookstore or school book store, and get the first year chem, physics, and bio books. (probably 20 bucks each if they are old edition) and an Organic chem book - I think an extra organic chem book with tons of problems would be good too because its heavy on the applying memorized rules stuff - Go through the topics sheets printed off and read all the sections in the books that apply. - Buy some practice MCAT test books (and even the full book with more reading if you want) - Pay for the official AAMC tests too, because they are usually written. - And study whatever free content you can get off the web, like at http://www.mymcat.com - lots of random stuff http://www.chem.ubc.ca/courseware/pH/ - lots of pH chem stuff http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/hframe.html - all physics http://www.chem.ox.ac.uk/vrchemistry/NOR/reactions.asp - organic chem reactions The list of sites goes on, but really, there is so much out there on google to answer your problems.
