606
Hey folks, I am really struggling with VR...lookin for some more practice material. Anyone know of an online resource where their are passages/essays on a diverse range of topics (similar to mcat vr) preferably with summaries so that I can check my assessment of the essay... Thanks,
Med Guru
I haven't checked this myself yet, but your best bet may be to spend a few bucks and buy a used copy of either a princeton review or kaplan VR book. Even if it isn't the most recent edition, it's the practice of scanning the passages, practicing your timing, technique and checking your answer's that will give you the most benefit. Not to mention most people unload their prep material for pretty cheap or sometimes free if you pay the shipping...
gogopogo
Ah. Please allow me! http://www.examkrackers.com/index.php The examkrackers site allows you to read a verbal passage and answer one question once a day (as part of a 3-question "train your brain" game) http://www.testprepreview.com/mcat_practice.htm Vocabulary, Main Idea, Reading Comprehension Here (Limited), as well as many other discrete subjects http://www.english-test.net/mcat/index.html English reading and vocabulary prep. Seems mostly geared towards ESL students, however I still found it useful http://www.4tests.com/exams/examdetail.asp?eid=37 Free MCAT mini tests (about 1/2 size) of VR and both sciences http://www.mcat-prep.com/ Free gold standard MCAT http://www.kaptest.com/Pre-Med/Medical-School/PM_home.html Free MCAT http://www.prep101.com/mcat/study_aids.html Free question banks of each section (watch the dubious answer keys!) http://www.princetonreview.com/medical/free-mcat-practice-test.aspx?uidbadge=%07 Free MCAT This is all the links I know of. Anybody know any more?
gogopogo
Oh and I also forgot to mention that a small component of the General Studies GRE has passage-based questions I found comparable to MCAT, in that the same "mental muscles" were being exercised. You will find several free practice GREs online as well, if that interests you.
