Australian Universities Visiting Canada in Jan/Feb

Recommended Posts

G’day everyone,

I am posting this message to inform you that a number of Australian universities which have medical schools will be visiting Canada between Monday, January 26, 2009 and Tuesday, February 3, 2009.

The Australian universities include:

Bond University

James Cook University

Monash University

The University of Melbourne

The University of Queensland

This is a great opportunity to meet with each university and learn more about admission requirements, overseas clinical placements, etc.

I will also be present at each of the fairs to provide up to date information regarding accreditation and the latest news.

The Fairs will be conducted in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.

For further information regarding the dates, times and venues of where each university will be, please visit: http://www.oztrekk.com/news_events/fairjan09.php'>http://www.oztrekk.com/news_events/fairjan09.php

Some of the Australian medical schools which offer graduate entry medical programs will be opening their applications soon. To learn more as to when the applications will be opening, the application procedure and entry requirements, don’t hesitate to visit: http://www.oztrekk.com/programs/medicine/PG/overview.php'>http://www.oztrekk.com/programs/medicine/PG/overview.php

Hey aclementine,

How are you?

To tell you the truth, the number of Canadians coming from Australian universities to this point has been quite small. Sydney and Flinders have had the most, as four, five and six years ago they were the only Australian medical schools that had international places over 10-15 available. Over the next few years this is when the majority of Canadians will be graduating from Australian universities and coming back to Canada. So this is when the statistics will be of most value to all. Queensland increased their places from 20 to 40, 80 and then 100 for international students. Many of the other Australian medical schools increased their places gradually for international students from 5 to 10, 15 and 20. Not all, but this is where it becomes significant.

I am actually going to release some statistics, residency location and types of residencies undertaken by the start of the Canadian summer. I hope to finish my report by the end of May and release it. So stay tuned...

Any questions, just e-mail me at any time at matt@oztrekk.com.
