Guest Day_one
How much emphasis does US med schools place on SGPA compared to CGPA? I have a 3.4ish SGPA (result of VERY poor first year) and 3.8ish non-SGPA, with CGPA of ~3.5. I have a 31Q on the MCAT (12 BS, 10 PS, 9 VR, Q WS). Is that good enough or should I put an effort into rewriting it? If I do, what should I be aiming for?
a41
I think US med schools really only care about cGPA. With your GPA, your MCAT score is only ok... You might be able to get into some mid-tiers if you apply early. I would consider rewriting to improve by a couple of points - it'll also give you a chance at Canadian schools. I'd feel safer with a 33 or 34.
