over thinking easy questions

I had the same problem at first. I had taken a lot of upper year science (especially chemistry) courses, so I found I was thinking far too in depth when confronted with an MCAT question. I was answering the questions based on what I had learned, rather than what was given in the passages/questions.

I fixed the problem (saw a large increase in science scores) by regularly reminding myself that everything I needed to answer the question was given to me in the passage/question. I worked on answering the questions based on what was given, rather than outside knowledge. Basically, for me, it was a matter of getting into the MCAT mindset vs. the mindset for most university exams.

Hope that helps!
