Sev
For McMaster, is the Oct. 1 LOR due date a firm one, or is an extension allowed to Dec. 1 like for UofT? Thanks for your time.
irsr
I am also confused about the deadline for references. Is the deadline the same for the Assessment Form and the letter?
sp1nz
Are LORs even needed for Mac? They don't seem to factor in on the selection Formulae... From Mac Med Website Formula 1 - 25% Undergraduate Grade Point Average, 25% MCAT Verbal Reasoning Score, 46% CASPer Score, up to 4% Graduate degree (1% Master's degree/4% PhD). Formula 2 - 70% Multiple Mini Interview Score, 15% Undergraduate Grade Point Average, 15% MCAT Verbal Reasoning Score.

"The Undergraduate Medical Program uses two formulae to rank applicants - the first provides a rank order list for invitation to interview, and the second provides a rank order list for advancement to Collation (full file review). The overall weightings reflect our commitment to consider the cognitive and professional qualities of applicants equally." The full file review implies that they will be looking at your reference letters.
lilil
Hi, I got the e-mail answer from Wendy Edge at Mcmaster admissions: "We will accept your reference letters late. This does not affect your file until decision time –so there is a point of no return. Please ensure your referees submit their letters as close to the deadline as possible, but by Dec. 1st for certain. Take care Wendy" Hope this helps! That is from a friend directly asking Dr. R who is now at MAC.
sp1nz
Anyways, to close this thread up, I emailed Wendy and she said they'll accept late reference letters.
