osteon
Most U.S. schools seem to have a fairly good sized list of prereq courses required for applying; does anyone know of any U.S. med schools, off the top of their head, that don't have a prereq requirement? thirty6ix
Nope! I mean, there are a few that don't require English, but I'm pretty sure that all schools have a small handful of required courses (bio, gen chem, organic chem, etc.)
Magnus
Most of them pre-reqs, however they're all very similar, so as long you fill most of those general pre-reqs you shouldn't have a problem applying to most of the schools. jawn_doe
Does anyone know the schools that don't require English or Physics. I just got rejected from U of T so canada was a bust I had a 3.90 with a 33O I'll be graduating this year (BSc Physiology). I have all the other chem and math stuff. Thanks! 2011matriculant
I'm pretty sure that virtually all American (MD) schools require 1 full year of physics but someone can correct me if I'm wrong... With respect to English, some schools don't require it but many do. If English is not required, then they usually expect that you've taken courses in expository writing (1 full year equivalent). Hope this helps.
jawn_doe
Yes thank you. I'm planning on finishing up physics and english this following year and applying this summer. Does anyone know if applying to US schools after graduating is an issue, or has any disadvantage? Also, is doing courses after graduating ok with US schools? AnxiousBoy
No disadvantage at all for taking classes after graduating. In fact, one of the prereq of US schools is a bachelor's degree unlike Canada, so if anything, not having a pre-req course completed at time of application may become a disadvantage. jawn_doe
Oh gotcha, well that works then. I'm planning on doing 3 courses this summer (2 english, 1 phys) and then physics pt2 in the winter semester.
