Guest ikaj
1. What is the major intermolecular interaction bn acetone in the liq phase, dipole-dipole or H-bonding? ans is dipole-dipole (why not H-bonding?) 2. What is the hybridization of the central carbon of the carbocation intermediate in substitution reactions that have bond angles of 120 degrees? thnks:)
Guest antissa
acetone is 2-propanone. There's an O (highly electronegative) attached to a C, which generates a dipole but there's no H attached to the O (which is required for hydrogen bonding) if the bond angles are 120 degrees, I think it's sp2 hybridized
