I was thinking about EK 1001 series but I'm kinda confused after reading some of the responses about the series at student doc. I also heard that gold standard isn't good for extra practice. I have never used Kaplan, but when I studied last summer I used both TPR and EK 1001.. and I feel that 90% of what I learned came from EK. I did the 30 minute test at the end of each chapter in the different books (bio, physics, chem) and then did the questions in the 1001 books corresponding to the chapters I did the worst in, since I didn't have time to do 1001 questions in each subject.
