sprinkles
Hello all, I'd like to get started soon on studying for the verbal part of the MCAT and I have found the past posts on here to be quite useful! I concluded that I should buy myself the EK books that everyone is talking about but my problem is I don't know which one to get? originally I wanted to get: http://www.amazon.ca/Examkrackers-Passages-McAt-Verbal-Reasoning/dp/1893858553/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337318781&sr=8-1 but then I saw: http://www.amazon.ca/Examkrackers-McAt-Verbal-Reasoning-Orsay/dp/1893858685/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1337318781&sr=8-3 and http://www.amazon.ca/Examkrackers-McAt-Verbal-Reasoning-Orsay/dp/1893858480/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1337318781&sr=8-6 and http://www.amazon.ca/Examkrackers-Passages-MCAT-Verbal-Reasoning/dp/1893858243/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1337318781&sr=8-5 etc etc....so my question is which should I get? are they all the same book but different editions? should I get both the '101' one and the other? Would it be helpful to get multiple editions? (different questions in different books?) thanks and sorry if this is a stupid question
ace327
The 101 passage books contain just the passage sets and no VR tips/advice. The difference between the two 101 books that you linked to is just the editions (the newest edition is the first link). The other book that you linked to (verbal reasoning and mathematical techniques) contains mostly tips/advice for how to do well on VR and some math short cuts for the other sections of the mcat. If i recall correctly, this book contains 9 passage sets (of about 6-7 questions) - so considerably fewer than the 101 book. Ek's verbal strategy is pretty good, so you could purchase the content book if you wanted to get some VR instruction, but definitely get the 101 passages book. With regards to the 101 passages book, the newer edition is formatted to match the CBT MCAT, so I'd probably go with the newer edition. If I'm not mistaken both editions contain pretty much the same questions (just formatted differently).
