MCAT vs cGPA Weight?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! I'm looking to apply to a couple American schools this year, but after looking at the MSAR 10th-90th percentile statistics for GPA and MCAT scores, I am having trouble determining which schools I actually have a shot at.

My cGPA is about 3.2 (but my best/last two years are 3.9 - go figure)

My most recent MCAT score is a 38S (:D!!)

I was told by a friend that some American schools take MCAT to higher consideration, but none of the admissions programs explicitly declare this. I was wondering if you guys had any insight into this. It would help me choose which schools to apply to A LOT!!

Thanks!

Applying to us schools this late (even with a great MCAT score) is risky. I mean, low tiers (or even mid tiers) like wayne state, gwu, georgetown, suny (low), dartmouth, bu, northwestern, case western (mid) may look at you, but your low GPA is still a red flag. If you are really set on US medical schools, do a SMP if you don't get in this year. But with your MCAT scores, I thnk ull get some interviews. Again, save $$$ and goto western!
