WS grading

How does the writing sample correspond to numbered grades? I know a lot of med schools convert the J-T scale to a number so I'm wondering how it converts..

i.e. is T = 13-15

or

T = 15

S = 14

R = 13

They are assigned letter grades over a range of 2-12, with T=12, S=11, etc. I believe the lowest grade is J=2. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

bolander1 isn't really correct.

When you get your score back from AAMC, it will be for example: 35R.

So the R represents a 10. You could have got a 6 on one WS and a 4 on another WS. Or you could have gotten a 5 on one WS and a 5 on the other WS too. AAMC doesn't tell you that. They just combine the two scores of the essay's and thus give you the total score.

So Jeffpr is right. The lowest you can get is J=2 (a 1 on both WS you do). The highest you can get is a T=12 (a 6 on both WS you do).
