nawrp11
Hey guys In your experience studying, which prep book did you find the most helpful for learning MCAT Organic Chemistry?
viseguy
I never took organic chemistry and I'm not a science student, so take my advice accordingly. I was pretty clueless reading through EK and TPR for the first time. I read Organic Chemistry as a Second Language, and then watched Chad's videos. Then going back to EK and TPR made sense, and both basically covered all I needed to know for the MCAT (which is not that much actually). The MCAT tests the same style of orgo questions heavily and a lot of passages are comprehension based anyway. Don't memorize obscure reactions, and keep in mind that you can answer the majority of problems with only knowledge of: -Isomerism, optical activity, cyclohexane conformation -Solid understanding of Sn2/Sn1/E2/E1 (chads video is amazing for this) -The basic reactions outlined in EK (Girgnard synthesis, Aldol, etc...) -Extractions and Lab Techniques
