Head Squeeze
Hi, I am planning on applying to some American Medical Schools this year. Only obstacle, which most people face, is getting a LoC approved. I talked to CIBC and hey said that LOC is only eligible for Canadian Schools. RBC 'credit expert' said that max limit is 150,000 for international schools and a cosigner is a must. Still waiting for a reply from TD. Can anyone with approved LoC studying in US give any tips? Can we get a loan from an American Bank with an american cosigner, even though I do not hold american citizenship or green card?
advair250
Try a different bank, other banks like CIBC and TD can give more. The rep you were talking to might have been wrong, you should be able to get 250k with a cosigner. It won't be enough but hopefully you have personal savings or parents who can float you the remainder for cost of living, flights etc.
keith_015
Bring them a letter of acceptance, and then bring some evidence of estimated cost of attendance. They can do better than that. Banks want your money. You want the banks. Make it work - play hard.
