chromealt
Hello, Non-trad applicant here, graduated in engineering from the University of Waterloo. GPA: Not 100% sure what my AMCAS GPA is, but based on this thread http://www.premed101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31303 I calculated it to be 3.72 sGPA is somewhere over 3.9 MCAT: 12PS 8VR 11BS (31 Total) ECs: Quite a bit of work experience, engineering, management consulting, programming among others. Some volunteering at hospital and a long term care centre, pro bono services from work. Very established musician in 5 instruments (been playing some instruments for over 20 years). Research experience and 2nd author in publication that should be published soon. Quite a bit of tutoring (calculus). Awards from several engineering competitions. Currently no shadowing experience (finding it hard to shadow here in Canada). Working on my own startup company right now. Think I have any shot at any USMD schools? bozo22
Your GPA is good enough, especially science. But your VR score could hurt you though. This link was posted by hopefulmd12 and it might help you gage where you stand with martriculating Canadian students: https://www.aamc.org/download/321502/data/2012factstable21.pdf
chromealt
Thanks for the link. Looks like an 8VR is greater than a standard deviation from average, but overall score is within a SD. Do you think it's worth a shot to apply or save the money?
advair250
Great GPA and MCAT is acceptable, give it a strong effort and you're engineering background should help too. Write a good PS and explain ECs well.
