elastichero
I asked one of my profs to write me a letter of recommendation and she asked me to bring in a letter of intent. I have a rough idea of how to write one but does any one have any tips on how to write one that will help her write a better letter of recommendation for me? EM4me
The way I looked at it is almost like a cover letter. You're essentially writing a letter of recommendation for yourself, but you're also explaining what your "intentions" for the future are. Where you want to go, what your interests are, how you plan to get there, your motivations for these things etc. Pretty much tell a story about yourself and make yourself sound awesome which for some people (ex. myself) is like the hardest thing in the world to do. EDIT: That last part kind of sounded discouraging - didn't mean for it to be! I'm sure you'll write a good one, it's just hard to get started because people have a hard time articulating why they are awesome. Even though they know they are, in fact, awesome.
