Selected schools - any thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

I've interviewed in Canada three times and have decided it's time to apply to the states.

Undergrad GPA: 3.85; MPH GPA: 3.9

MCAT: 8/12/9 (2010); 10/11/09 (2012); 9/12/12 (2013).

I'm going into my second year of my MPH degree.

Here's some background info:

- summer research position (published 1 article, 5th author; biogeochemistry related)

- work with children with autism (volunteering with the kids; helped start a fundraising group on campus (exec member); and eventually worked with the children as an aide)

- volunteer with campus food bank, and after school program with inner city children,

- currently working with alberta health services in my practicum (public health related)

- worked at a medical clinic as a substitute receptionist

- some international volunteer work

- ec's include being a member of a scouting asociation for 10 years, piano, attending a seminar on united nations and international affairs...etc

My list is just under 20 -

Howard University

Uni of North Carolina

University of California (Davis)

Warren Alpert

Rosalind Franklin

New York Uni

New York Medical COllege (Valhalla)

Jefferson

George Washington

Dartmouth

Tulane

State University of NY

University of Connecticut

Any input is much appreciated! I'm feeling overwhelmed...

I'll give you the same advice I have typed over and over. Read the other threads in this forum. You should be applying to the same bunch of schools as pretty much most Canadian applicants.

Howard University: No! Unless you are an African American?

Uni of North Carolina: Very hard to get into as Canadian

University of California (Davis): No......

Warren Alpert: They accept CND but very difficult

Rosalind Franklin: Yes

New York Uni: Yes

New York Medical COllege (Valhalla): Yes

Jefferson: Yes

George Washington: Yes

Dartmouth: Yes

Tulane: Yes

State University of NY: Yes

University of Connecticut: They claim to accept Canadians, and will take your money.

University of Kentucky: Yes

Wayne State: Yes

Albert Einstein: Yes

Mayo: Dunno if they have made changes, but very difficult school to get into for Americans themselves

Oakland: Yes, i think

Penn State: Don't remember

Uni of Maryland: I think they accept CNDs, but haven't heard of any CNDs getting in here

Virginia Commonwealth: Yes
