  1. Site looks great! Everybody come to Western! Looking back, from my perspective, these past 4 years have been an amazing experience. I've pushed my limits and broadened horizons; I've made some wonderful friends; I've truly had a fantastic time here at Western. I look forward to meeting some of you! We train some of the best medstudents in the country and create some hilariously fun memories along the way. Come join us.
  2. Site looks good. Needs more purple. For reals. Also, updated testimonials. Come on, 2016s. I remember writing a testimonial back in 2010/11.
  3. Yeah, I agree with maodiddymao; the reflex defensiveness and troll-y nitpicking is kinda unbecoming--as if you're gunning to start a pointless internet flame war. MEH. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  4. "Eat your vegetables. Do your homework." -- my mother (I'll think of a more profound one later)
  5. Unfortunately, like the flowchart at the beginning of this thread indicates, your cGPA is too low for Canada. UWO is best two years above 3.75 (historically). Unfortunately, I just checked the UWO requirements on the OMSAS pdf, and the minimum 3.75 must be met in each of your best two years considered (your 3.74 in first year is just shy of the minimum for interview). The 8 in verbal is a problem for Canada. I would rewrite. Ottawa, McGill, and NOSM will not require the MCAT; however, the AFMC stats show that the mean GPA for successful applicants at Ottawa and McGill in 07/08 were 3.66 and 3.77, respectively (which actually seems kind of low...I might not be reading these stats well. Also, the 3.77 at McGill was at a time when McGill still required the MCAT). NOSM has a very heavy bias towards northern and rural applicants. I think McGill also biases Quebec residents--I'm not sure of the details for McGill. Overall, if you want to go for it, you're going to have to boost your GPA and your MCAT. Try and see what the school selector spreadsheet at the Student Doctor forums gives you for American schools. P.S.: Your ECs sound great.
  6. Wow! You are an application machine! Congrats! Are you joining the Windsor campus?
  7. Waitlisted (very favourable rank) Will decline if get off waitlist. etc. Recent undergrad graduate. Second time applying to medschools. First time applying to NOSM. Marks Current Degree GPA: 3.92 Interview I thought it went well. There were 2 stations that were kind of rocky, but the rest felt good. Had lots of practice/research with a few friends. +++ Accepted at Western. That's where I'm going. Yay!
  8. Bad Waitlist/Rejection Quite a surprise, this one. I thought my interview went really really well. I was relaxed, to the point, and I made the interviewers laugh a few times. Seeing as admission is ~100% interview, I guess I completely mis-judged. Geography etc. Ontario Anglophone Resident. Second time applying. Marks wGPA: 3.81 Interview I thought it went really well; apparently, it didn't. There were some interesting questions, and I paused to think and give interesting answers. Maybe they felt my answers were too rehearsed? I have no idea. It's odd. Accepted at Western. That's where I'm going. yeehaw!
  9. Rejected Queen's was never my first choice and the rejection was not too much of a surprise. Geography etc. Ontario Resident. Recent undergrad graduate. Second time applying to medschool. First time applying to Queen's. Marks cGPA: 3.76 Most Recent 2-year: 3.77 MCAT: 34S PS: 10 VR: 11 BS: 13 WS: S Interview Not great. It was my very first interview. I feel that if I had a 1 more weeks of prep, it would have been much better. No matter. Writing Sample I liked it. I made a few coherent paragraphs and I felt I answered the prompt well. Accepted at Western. That's where I'm going!
  10. Accepted (What the heck!?). Email at 9:11am Geography etc. Ontario Resident. Non-SWOMEN Recent undergrad graduate. Second time applying to medschool. First time applying to UWO. Marks cGPA: 3.76 Best 2-year GPA: 3.93 MCAT: 34S PS: 10 VR: 11 BS: 13 WS: S Interview I thought it was pretty rocky, to be honest. The doctor on the panel seemed really really bored. Definitely stumbled on a few questions. The part at the end of my interview, however, went very well. ECs Longterm commitments for several causes. Exec on numerous clubs. No research. Other Results Rejected at Queen's. Bad waitlist at Ottawa. Good waitlist at NOSM. Accepting Western. Campus Choice: London I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!
