Cherry_Blossom Posted October 15, 2019 Report Share Posted October 15, 2019 Hi all, I'm in my 3rd year at a USMD school in New York and I will be applying to some of the Ontario schools (Toronto, Mac, UWO, Queens - mainly looking at Mac and Toronto) for IM next year in hopes to be closer to family. Can anyone give me an inkling of how competitive these programs are? How many elective rotations do students typically do? How competitive are the Cards/GI fellowship opportunities in Ontario and do residents typically move a lot (across provinces) for fellowship? Any tips on how I can maximize my chances at the match? These are my stats if it helps USMLE Step 1: above average (does this matter?), will write Step 2 this summer Research: a few abstracts/poster presentations in subjects not related to IM, no publications yet ECs: a few conferences, part of a few advocacy groups 3rd year grades: So far 1 High Pass, 1 Pass, haven't got my IM grade yet Thanks all!
