whoaminow
I am trying to get a sense of how family medicine residency programs across the country are responding to the COVID pandemic. Are FM residents being shared with other services to cover shortfalls in staffing? Being sent to the front lines to help with the COVID+ cases? Being kept in FM clinics? With the threat of residency extensions if FMRs don't attain the required competencies, I'm just wondering what different places are doing. JuicyMango
Most of Ontario : Clinics are tele-consults, so most of the time the residents currently in FM rotation are pulled from the clinics and are helping with ER services, admissions (depending if they are at a community hospital), hospitalist wards. medisforme
At our local program, those that have done ICU electives in the past are being credited with call shifts for "helping out" for 18-24 hour shifts in the ICU, starting lines, handling labs etc... islam620
Any thoughts on whether the CFPC will follow suit with the royal college and also cancel the oral exam component of the exam?
