Guest Theo
Hey UWOMEDS2005 How do you trace IP addresses, Ive been getting these really annoying emails lately (a little racially charged) and I was wondering if you knew how to trace them as you posted earlier thanks
Guest Ian Wong
Those are traced through this forum, so they wouldn't be of any benefit in tracking down emails. If you are interested in tracking emails, you need to look at the detailed email headers, which aren't usually included in most email programs. You might have better luck with tracking down those headers by using a search engine. There's tons of websites out there for tracking down spammers. Guest tipster
You can see headers on hotmail or yahoo, just check the settings and/or look for some button to display "details"... Clicking properties in the message using MS Outlook should show headers of mail sent to your ISP. It won't be easy to track down the person who is sending you the bad mail, but if you have the IP you can mail the ISP involved, and file a complaint. Be sure to includes all the details, such as message body and header. If the IP was numerical (12.34.56.78) then resolve by using "ping -a IP".
