A conversation came up in the U of C forum when some one mentioned of a series of interviews conducted at UWO with various physicians and surgeons in London. We were thinking of initiating a similar career searching type of interview series with our Calgary specialists, family physicians etc. I was just wondering if any of UWO students know much about this endeavor. If so I'm wondering how you guys have organized it all... Thanks for your help!

It was called Project Think, and it involved an interview with a member of each of the specialties offered in the residency programs at UWO. I think it was organized by the class of 2004; might be able to get some more info over the course of this week.

I think it was done by the class of 2004. They had a list of questions that were asked of each doctor interviewed:

Something like:

1. What are the three best things about your specialty

2. What are the three worst things about your specialty

3. What qualities make someone a good X (surgeon, family doc, etc)

4. What advice would you give people if they think they might be interested in X

5. If you had to do it again would you change anything

They also got the general 'background' on the person they were intereviewing...med school, residency, places/types of practice, current scope of practice, other degrees, family, hobbies, etc.

The whole thing was then published into a booklet, complete with contact info for the docs and the person that interviewed them.

Good luck.... there was (maybe is?) one beat up old copy of it in the meds lounge at UWO... Classes of 2006 and 2007 have never had a copy...

Hey there,

I wonder how in heck I managed to get a hands on a copy of this document, then? :rolleyes I remember downloading it from a site a year or two ago, however, the name of that site eludes me.

Cheers,

Kirsteen

May have been one of the class websites...and I would bet it was the meds 2002's...they still have a huge website several years after they graduated.

Unfortunately, 'project think' seems to have faded into oblivion...
