Guest UWOguy
I am going to attend UWO in September 2004 as an undergraduate student. It seems like UWO has new system called "New Academic Choice" This gives me so much flexibility that I am confused now. I can basically take ANY 5 full course in the first year. As a pre-med student, what is the course that are recommended. I know that I will need Biology, Chemistry for most of medical school's prerequisites, but I don't know what to choose for remaining three.. Any advice? Thanks
Guest aneliz
Most 1st year science people take: General Chemistry Biology Physics Calculus an arts or social science course like history, English, Psych, Sociology This is true of most schools...not just Western. Guest UWOguy
At Western, the first year course(undergrad) seems to have general biology and general chemistry. I'll choose those two courses. However, for Physics and Calculus, there are many kinds. Which Physics is going to be for pre-med student? Do I really need to do Physics I? (It says taht is the prerequisite for any advanced physics) However, there is other physics which is for biological science (called Introductory Physics) Anyone know the difference and recommendation? Guest therealcrackers
The physics for biological sciences (phys 024 when I took it, in the middle ages) was sufficient to meet your needs, and to help prepare for the MCAT. I think you had to take a co-requisite calculus as well---but check that. If you want to pursue a course plan that includes senior physics courses (like phys. chem, inorganic chem, physics, astronomy, etc.) choose your 1st year course accordingly.
