Does Western only consider September-April as an academic year?

 

I'm in a Co-op program and because of the scheduling this current year (4th) is the first time I've had back-to-back school semesters.

 

When I applied, I'd completed 3 years and the 3rd year was above the GPA cutoff but my application was rejected citing that I hadn't met the cutoff. I appealed and explained the co-op schedule, and that was rejected this week.

 

Officially they're citing that for a co-op program I need one full academic year (5 full credits) and a second year with one term (5 half credits) above the GPA cutoff. Again I meet this requirement: 3.82 GPA in 3rd year and 3.88 GPA in first semester 2nd year.

 

The only think I can think of is, they still don't consider any of my academic history as a full academic year which seems extremely unreasonable. I have taken a full course load (5 or more courses) for every academic semester I've completed - we don't have a choice of when we can go to school the study/work schedule is set and there is no such thing as "summer school" here, summer semesters are regular semesters.

 

Sorry about the long rant. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
