New Med School Orientation forum for Incoming med students.

Hi

 

As there is alot of discussion occuring on line of credit and the cost of going to school is beyond most peoples means, i think it would be a good idea to open a new forum line (i.e like med students, pre-dent, pre-med etc.) dedicated to finanicing education. currently i am finding information in 5-6 different forums. So Ian, my suggestion is to set up another line dedicated to finnacing med/dent school.

<pagetext>After graduating this past May, I will be enrolling again for undergrad to take the prereq courses (I have an Arts degree). Due to other obligations (I've actually enrolled in outside school programs that cost a @#%$ load of money that I can't get a refund from) I am able to enroll in only 3 courses this year and will probably only need 3 more next year to fulfill all the prereq's. Do these adcoms look unfavourably at part-time students? Do you guys suggest that I take a full course load at all costs or at the very least take a full load in the following year?......Any comments/thoughts will be appreciated.

<pagetext>Hello everyone, I'm a first year UBC student, just moved into rez 3 days ago. It turned out that my bed is infected with bed bugs. They are parasites that hide in mattresses, wallpaper cracks and live on human/animal blood. You can see what they look like by going to Google Image and search for "bed bugs".

 

I spoke to the House Maintainence at UBC, and he called in a pesticide company. They'll do a three-phase chemical cleansing, lasting 4 weeks, first kill the adult bugs, then their eggs.

 

THIS HAS BROUGHT TREMENDOUS PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL TORTURE FOR ME. I dont know if I carry bugs right now and I live in disgust. Also, a notice of the problem, forbidding entrance to my room, is put on my door for everyone to see. These are just some of the reasons I'm suffering right now. Not to mention the itching at night which kept me awake.

 

Yet to me the most outrageous of all is the housing maintanence person asked if I'm an int'l student, because bugs might be brought in by int'ls. If I brought the bugs in, would I still talk to them about it?

 

Needless to say, I'm thinking of compensations, in the form of reduced housing fee at least, and be transferred to a different room. But what is a reasonable amount to seek and how I should approach it. Can anyone help me please?
