How much time to get ready for starting med

Hey all,

 

I am just wondering, for those of you that are in med, how much time is needed to get organized for the beginning of year 1. The reason I ask is that I am currently living out of the country and am planning on doing some travelling before returning home. So, at the moment my set day to come back is the 22nd of August. Since classes start the 29th is this going to be mad panic in terms of getting myself ready. I plan to already have a place lined up but I will need to get a LOC (how long do those take to be approved??), buy a computer, move, buy furniture, etc. Am also wondering about this CPR course that I have heard a little about. Is this something that needs to be done before classes start. I'm just trying to make my plans and buy my plane tickets so just need to know if I'm being a little unreasonably in my timeline and if I need to come home a bit earlier.
