Writing the essay - mention premedical studies?

Hello,

 

I'm working on my essay right now, and I'm wondering if I should mention my premedical studies in the essay? The instruction seems to say the essay is to discuss non-academic interests and backgrounds...

In short,

 

It all depends on what you want to say, how you want to introduce yourself, in what context, and ultimately, what main qualities about yourself that YOU want to stand out. They simply don't want you to write an essay on what your undergrad was like, that's all.
