I am currently living in the states but my family is moving to Alberta next year. Now that I am interested in becoming a doctor in the future, I need to take some premed courses. My questions are:

 

1) If I enroll in a premed program in the states, will the Universities in Canada consider them the same as courses offered there?

 

2) How can I register for premed courses/program in Canada? I searched on the webs of UA and UC but didn't find any premed program.

 

3) Actually my husband will be a faculty member, does anyone know whether it will help to lower the tuition if I can register for premed courses?

I thought my interview went well, albeit it definitely wasn't a friendly chat. The two interviewers were definitely rigorous, and asked a lot of questions such as "why do you want to go into medicine if you are already in research?". I thought I handled myself well in this answer....

 

fast forward a bit of the way through the interview, and the interviewer asks what I will do if I don't get into medicine? I say that I will continue on to finish my PhD and try to get into a field of clinically-related research. So they then ask me if I don't think that I am contradicting myself, since I said that I do not want to be in just basic research. I say no, because of course I have to have a backup plan, and i would not want to waste years of training, and that if I can't get into medicine, I would still like to have a medically-related career. So then they say, "why not just be a nurse?" I reply that I would be wasting years of effort and hard work as well as funding I have received on scholarship to learn about research. There are opportunities for me to use my research skills in medicine as a clinician-scientist, etc. They seem to be happy with this.

 

They also grilled me with a ten minute long ethical question, kept trying to get me to change my answer, etc. Long story short, they weren't hostile, but not exactly friendly.

 

Now I am talking to others who say that I should have requested another interview, that it sounds like they were hostile towards research and this will lessen my chances of getting in. I have a friend on the interview panel and he says they are usually not like this. So I am freaking out.

 

I guess there is nothing to do now, I just had to get this off my chest...

<pagetext>When I was interviewing during February, the lady who checked me in told me some people may receive their acceptance notices as soon as end of March/beginning of April. Is this true?

 

Also, how long do people generally have to accept or decline their offer for admission?
