What's the seminar for in the first year?

The schedule the Registrar gives you is not your real schedule. The Registrar's timetable is only put there so that you get credit for the courses you take.

 

The Faculty actually makes up another schedule for you (and you'll get the timetable when you start classes). So, when you see a lecture, lab, seminar, etc. scheduled into a certain time slot, it might not actually be what you'll be doing... :)
