Guest trickete
hello all! I was wondering if any past or present applicants are using '&' instead of 'and' in their responses or essays... it saves a lot of characters, but I wonder if the admissions person reading it would think that I'm 'cheating' ? Or if I'd be docked points for bad grammar? A silly question I know, sorry... will someone humour me? :\
Guest doctorinthehouse
I personally didn't use them for the same reasons. It might have absolutely no impact, but I didn't want to risk it. You can always make up the characters by revising over and over and making it more concise
Guest ElzKristy
I think that using the word 'and' in essays / written out responses is the way to go as well. However, from the other posts it seems acceptable to use the abbreviation '&' in the sketch (or detailed sketch in Ottawa's case). Does everyone agree with this? and - essays / responses & - sketch
Guest HenryTheBig
Hey, I think 'and' would look real sloppy in an essay and I'm not going to use it. However, for the Ottawa sketch they do stress to be concise and to the point so I see no reason not to use it. Henner
