Guest UBClebronjames
Hate to burst your bubble, but the Hippocratic Oath at present is not used at the majority of Canadian medical schools. (I still think there are a couple that have a altered version that they recite). But it's easy to see why they don't use it anymore.. since the oath can lead to interesting ethical dilemmas. I forget the lines that are most 'incorrect' in our age of medicine. Also did you know that Hippocrates' wasn't even the one who wrote the oath? It was most likely written by the Mason's of England (if my memory serves me correct from taking HMED 400 at UBC).
Guest aiko
thanks for the reply. Geez... do doctors promise anything when they graduate? at least "do no harm" or anything to that extent? If they don't... can i even trust them? aiko. Guest not rex morgan
Well there's a few things keeping docs in-line. First of all, there is integrity. If that fails, there's the criminal justice system.
