Guest
Hi, I am a Canadian citizen and used to be a BC-resident; but my family declared non-resident and moved to live abroad a few years ago. I am currently completing my undergraduate degree in the US. If I wish to apply to Canadian medical schools, specifically to UBC or the Ontario schools, would I be categorized as out-of-province, which is a very small quota? Would it help significantly if I redeclare my residency in BC again before applying to UBC and the Ontario schools? Thanks!
Guest Ian Wong
I would check directly with the med schools for this. UBC has published on their website very detailed criteria for who fits into which category. Their website is at: www.med.ubc.ca/md/admission/index.htm Hypothetically speaking, as I don't know which category you'd be considered under, being considered a BC resident would be a huge advantage to your application, as the extreme vast majority of the class has BC residency.
