This is a brand new Ontario government program...it has not started yet (supposed to start Spring 2003)....I really don't know the details of it...and I don't think that many are available yet. Theoretically, it is supposed to speed up the licensing process for 'fully qualified specialist physicians currently practicing outside Ontario'.

The following links may be helpful:

Ontario government announcements of new IMG programs including the so-called 'fast track'

www.gov.on.ca/health/engl...11102.html

Information from the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons about the IMG programs and the new 'fast-track'

www.cpso.on.ca/Info_physi...%20PROGRAM

The new fast track is an Ontario government program and is available in Ontario...I don't know if any of the other provinces have a comparable program (I am not aware of any).

Hope this is helpful.

Here's a few additional links.

The first is a link from the University of Toronto showing a pathway for IMG's, including a link to the College of Physicians and Surgeons FastTrack program that Aneliz refers to:

www.library.utoronto.ca/medicine/oimg/clearing_house1.htm

This second link has information regarding IMG applicants to the other provinces in Canada besides Ontario:

www.library.utoronto.ca/medicine/oimg/outside_ontario.htm

This third link is a .pdf file (you need to download and install Adobe Acrobat first) with information on the Ontario IMG program:

www.library.utoronto.ca/medicine/oimg/OIMGP_INFO_2003_04.pdf

The last link is published by Health Canada and gives information on IMG's trying to get licensed in Canada to practise medicine, as well as resources to contact for further help:

www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hppb/healthcare/pubs/medical_licensure/medical_licensure.html

Cheers,
