Guest Mirah
I just received a letter from Ottawa stating that my application will not advance for further review because I am not "a graduate student registered in the final year of my program". In fact, I have already graduated - in November 2003 - and received my M.Sc. diploma. My graduate degree was a complicated story because I was initially promoted to the Ph.D. program after my first year, then had to transfer back to the M.Sc. program at the end of my 2nd year and write up my thesis, due to severe environmental allergies. In my rejection letter, it says "a student registered in the first year of a M.Sc. program and a candidate who is registered in year one or two of a PhD. program does not qualify for advancement". Does this mean that because I was at some point registered as a Ph.D. student I cannot be considered? Or is it because I have already graduated that I am no longer evaluated under the grad review policy? I meet all the other criteria, and in fact, was asked to submit a graduate productivity package last year, when I was technically still registered as a PhD.2 student (but didn't get an interview). I am so confused. I just got the letter today, so I haven't been able to reach anyone in the admission office yet. Please help me if you know anything... Thanks.
