Hassles?

Just to start a new thread while we're all waiting...

 

Is anyone out there going to have to go through a lot of hassle if they do get accepted to U of C? I don't just mean moving to a new city... For instance, I'm going to lose a lot of scholarship money that is only applicable to undergrad studies (excluding an MD degree), have to quit my summer research position early (meaning I don't finish my project, risk not producing enough data to be published, pisssing off my supervisor, and pissing off the people in the department I'm researching in because they didn't really want to give me the research scholarship anyway) and I'll have to leave my boyfriend behind because he can't transfer universities b/c he's in the middle of his Ph.D. program, plus my father's ill with cancer and I'd have to spend all year away from him...

 

Knowing all this, I'd still drop everything just to go to U of C (it's my #1 choice over U of A).

 

Is anyone else out there thinking of the personal sacrifices that need to be made in order to pursue a career in medicine?

I have two questions.

 

First, regarding the "challenging essay." I know that I am supposed to exclude my academic career, but the first months of my masters project (my supervisor was on maternity leave and unavailable, and I was left to determine an area of research, and undertake that research with no guidance) was the most challenging thing I've faced in a while. Since this applies more to "research" than academics, do you think it is safe to use? I have a couple of back-up topics, but I don't think they are as legitimate.

 

Second, the must sign for has check boxes for publications (if applicable) and file folder/address labels. I have one publication that has been printed, and two more on the way. Should I send in copies of all three (the other two are just word documents right now, and aren't officially being printed by the papers yet). Finally, do they want me to mail in a file folder and address labels? This is my first time applying, and I'm not sure what to do!

 

Any advice would be appreciated,

Just wanted to let you know that Adele has started making calls. I received my acceptance this morning. What a great feeling it is!!!!! I am an OOP student in my 4th year but I am sure that everyone is getting calls randomly. I wish everyone waiting the best of luck and I hope to see you guys next year. Good luck especially to the great people I met on March 16th when I was interviewed, those people were all top students that I would love to learn and one day work with.
