Hi there,

First, you need to pass the LMCCs (the first step is written in May after the end of medical school) and then you need to write your Royal College exam for Family Medicine at the end of the Family Medicine residency. Also, you need to pass all your medical school exams. :)

Cheers,

Kirsteen

An amendment; it's not a Royal College exam, it's the Canadian College of Family Physicians (CCFP, not FRCP©); you have to pass the 2nd part of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Exam, which you write sometime after completing at least 12 months of residency (written in either October or May).

So in order:

Medical school

LMCC (MCCQE part I) -- May of grad year

MCCQE part II -- October of grad year + 1

CCFP exam -- summer? of grad year +2 (near or after the end of a 2-year family medicine residency).
