Can AP courses be used for medical school admissions?

Hi Kiel:

It's been a while since I last went to highschool, but I was wondering what an AP course is.

Thanks!

LOL. AP stands for "advanced placement." An individual that takes such course can take an exam, that if passed can be transferred into a university credit. This allows people to 'fast track' through university.

I did IB English, and it counted at Manitoba and maybe Sask (don't quote me on this). I don't think it counted for Ontario universities, so you'd best email them individually to check. Don't want to assume, and get it wrong!

Thanks. I would mainly just use this towards schools out west.

thanks again:)

They generally do count, but be careful with the school. I have a friend that currently cannot apply to Alberta because he transferred his AP Chemistry. I haven't checked into myself, but not all schools accept AP transfer credits. Also, it may be worth your while to find out how the credit is transffered. If you are just given standing or awarded an actual grade.
