retaking courses, starting fresh?????

Hi there,

 

I just finished two years of school at a community college, and will be transfering to a university in the fall. In the first year of college i took science courses, and then because of low marks, and thinking about doing other things besdies going into med i decided to take a bunch of non science courses. I have decided that Med school is where i want to go, and that i am going to do whatever it takes to get there.

 

Now my question is, is there any point in retaking the basic science courses i did in first year which I recieved poor marks in, mainly biology and chemistry. How would med schools calculate these gpa's? I don't want to close any doors, and in the long run an extra year or two of undergrad is not a problem for me. Does it make sense to start fresh at year one again?
