course load and medical school

Is there anybody on this site who has carried less than full course load and been accepted into medical school.

My advisor tells me that if I ask the admissions officers at U ot T and Mcmaster, they will tell me that I don't have to but she also told me that there is no way I will receive an interview letter even though I have a high gpa. I really don't know who to beleive anymore.
