somber
How can I maximize my chance to do residency at, say, UBC? Also, if I do residency elsewhere, can I still come back to BC to practice medicine? Thank you in advance!
Kirsteen
Hi there, Just as if you were aiming for any one school, you need to show a keen interest in their program and they need to like you. There are innumerable ways to do both, e.g., become involved in research with the faculty of your home program, get to know the residents, don't be a bit of a sourpuss on your home rotations. As for returning to a given province to practice, if you're offered a job there then you certainly can do so. A caveat though: many folks aim to match at one school and some do, but each year some are also disappointed, so ensure that you're competitive at other schools too. Cheers, Kirsteen
