Guest dogeatdog12
Hi I was talking to some peopel and they told me some of their referees wrote reference letters 1 1/2 pages long or even TWO pages. I spoke to one of my supervisors who was nice enough to tell me that she wrote about one page and quote "a strong recommendation letter" I don't know now if she wrote a standard recommendation with some good things to say. I am worrying again. I don't know what medical schools are expecting.
Guest Lactic Folly
If she said it was a strong recommendation letter, that's pretty much what you want to hear (quality over quantity). One page is enough to cover all the important aspects.. maybe they just don't have any long anecdotes to share. My guess is that medical schools expect a standard positive letter.. neutral letters will hurt, while outstanding letters will help, but each school is different. *sigh* I don't think any of my letters are in yet :|
