Hi guys,

Any ideas how much the diagnostic radiologist makes a year compared to an interventionalist?

thanks,

tmc

Hi there,

This is a tough question as there are many factors that contribute to take-home pay. For one, many diagnostic radiologists work in a group practice (as do some interventionalists) so the take-home pay will vary based on the activity of the practice as well as your share within it. Also, geography is a factor. Take-home pay tends to vary depending on country of practice with US > Canada > some countries in Europe. For example, I was recently in the company of two US radiologists who are based at a very large academic centre in the US. They both net well over $1M US per year. Contrast that with another radiologist I know who's working in Sweden (in a private facility) whose net pay is $6K per month. Finally, it's sometimes the case that radiologists are a bit coy about their earnings since they do do quite well, so it can be difficult to pinpoint an actual figure if you're outside of the fold. :)

Cheers,

Kirsteen
