Rugby
There have been quite a few discussions in this group about radiology and pathology, however I was hoping someone out there would have some info on Medical Microbiology and/or Infectious Disease. I am going into Medicine with an undergrad/Msc/Head tech experience in Microbiology and Immunology and was wondering what role a physician plays in these fields and what your day to day career life would be beyond growing bacteria on plates or ID weird viruses! Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated
shaka84
A good friend of mine is a medical microbiologist. he did internal medicine first and was bored everyday. He loves his specialty. he says he feels challenged and the work hours are fantastic. I don't believe he does much bench work, especially growing bacteria but does a lot of problem solving. As someone who has an undergrad degree in micro/immunology I would hope that there is a lab tech that would do the mundane, hit your head into a brick wall lab work. Hope this helps. shaka
